QUESTION :

Is there a public parking lot near the start/finish line?

 

ANSWER :

Yes there is one parking lot besides the start/finishe line.

Please be aware though that these parking lots are also open to the general public and may be full.

Important: Do not illegally park along the street!

QUESTION :

Is there a place to rest/nap at the finish line?

ANSWER :

No, there is a place where you can sit down and rest but space is limited so please do not use this space for sleeping and/or resting for a long time.

QUESTION :

If I use my extra batteries for my headlamp and then leave the used batteries in my drop bag or give them to my supporter for disposal, I’ll no longer have “extra batteries” with me as per the mandatory equipment list. If our gear is checked during the race and I don’t have an extra set of batteries with me, will I get time penalty?

ANSWER :

Yes, you must carry all the mandatory equipment with you throughout the race. We suggest you leave an extra set of new batteries with your supporter or leave an extra set in your drop bag. You can also carry extra batteries with you to replace your used batteries.

QUESTION :

If I give a hiker or another runner my taping tape or emergency blanket, will I be able to get a new one at the aid station?

ANSWER :

Yes. If you use your mandatory equipment for an emergency, you will be given a new one at the aid station.

QUESTION :

Will I be able to recharge my mobile phone at aid stations?

ANSWER :

Yes, there will be mobile phone chargers (for different types of mobile phones) at some of the aid stations.

QUESTION :

I would like to turn off my mobile phone during the race, however I’ve been told that we may receive emergency messages from race headquarters. Are there any areas where it is mandatory to keep my mobile phone on to receive SMS messages?

ANSWER :

You must keep your mobile phone on at all times in order to receive messages regarding bad weather, earthquakes and other emergencies. There are no specific areas where you must be able to receive SMS messages.

QUESTION :

 

A mobile phone is included on the mandatory equipment list but my batteries won’t last for 32 hours. Is it okay if my batteries don’t last?

ANSWER :

You may receive an emergency phone call from the race headquarters so please carry a battery recharger and keep the phone on during the race.Turn off  the internet connect can save you mobile phone batteries.)

QUESTION :

Should I bring a FORK?

ANSWER :

If you’re not used to eating with chopsticks, then you might want to bring your own fork or spoon to be able to eat the Chinese noodle soups or other Chinese fodd at the aid stations.

 

QUESTION :

What do you mean by adhesive elastic tape/band?

ANSWER :

This is strong tape that can not only be used for emergencies such as fractures and injuries but can also be used for many things including repairing broken equipment (such as your backpack straps). The minimum length is 80cm x 3cm.

 

QUESTION :

 

Can I just carry a pair of long pants or long tights/leggings that cover the ankles instead of wearing them?

ANSWER :

Yes – this is okay. The long pants/tights are to keep you warm so if the weather is good and the temperature is high, you can put these items in your backpack. If you feel cold, please take them out of your backpack and wear them.

QUESTION :

Do I have to wear/put on the mandatory equipment at all times?

ANSWER :

 

No. You do not have to wear the mandatory equipment at all times. You can put it in your backpack if you’re not using it. You can run in your bathing suit if you’d like – just make sure you have all the items in the backpack you’re carrying with you during the race or else you will be disqualified. There will be gear checks for both the UTGK 110 and UTGK 80 during the race.

QUESTION :

 

Can I receive food/drinks from my support crew at each aid station?

ANSWER :

Support can only be provided at aid stations and water stations .Runners are not allowed to accept aid between aid stations. Any runner who takes aid where they should not will get time penalty.

QUESTION :

Can I use the vending machines or stop by the convenience stores along the race course?

ANSWER :

Yes, you can use the vending machines and convenience stores located along the course.

Using spring/ faucet along the race course are allowed.

QUESTION :

Can I use an empty bottle or cut a PET bottle in half and use that as my portable cup?

ANSWER :

Yes, as long as it is larger than 150cc (150mL) and not made of glass (no glass bottles are allowed).

Cancellations, Race Category Changes, Transfers

 

1. Please be aware that there are no entry fee refunds (full or partial) for whatever the reason once you’ve signed up for the race.

2. Race category changes are not allowed under any circumstances. (e.g. You cannot change from the UTGK110  to the UTGK80 or vice versa)

3. Your entry (race bib/number) cannot be transferred to another person. If you do so, you, and the person to whom you’ve transferred the race bib to, will be prohibited from entering the UTGK in the future.
